The ICAD board is in the early stages of developing a peer reviewed journal for auditory display, design, and sonification. Given the dramatic differences in disciplines, we want to get as much input as possible frim the wider community about publication issues, Do you have questions, comments, or concerns about the formation of a new journal? What would you like to see in and auditory display journal? Let's discuss!
I hardly dare to ask, but what is a good place to watch the European Soccer Championship in Paris?
Or is there even a possibility to watch it in the conference centre?!
See you soon,
Christian
Hands-on workshop on 23 June 2008 at IRCAM (Paris, France).
Organizers: Karmen Franinovic, Lalya Gaye, Frauke Behrendt
Workshop website: http://sonicinteraction.wordpress.com/
Deadline for call for expressions of interest: 06 June 2008
Sponification is now used already for many years but still many scientiss are not aware of it's potential, how can we improve this situation! I would think that part of the diffiulties that sonification faces to gain more acceptace is the lack of a profile as a clearly scientific method. Scientists who have never heard ofSonification before rather think of it as data driven music. I think the ICAD website could be a perfect place tio discuss these Sonification related questions and maybe help to establish best practice guidlines for sonifications and their evaluation.
I am interested in comments from the ICAD community regarding recent image sonification explorations I have been doing in conjunction with a museum exhibit I am designing related to the Stereo Space Mission project. The project is funded as part of a two year NASA Ideas grant.
Has ICAD ever chosen the best paper/poster/demo for a given conference?
It appears to be quite common in many conferences, and would be a nice tradition to have: the community choosing examples of what kind of level and quality is appreciated and what everyone (especially us newbies) should aim for. It's naturally a bit of extra work, but it could be a handy tool for the development of the conference and community itself.
And adds a few minutes of fun "back-patting" (how do you say that in english?) to the conference program. ;)
Can someone please post the specific dates for ICAD 08? I know they were announced in Montreal. Thanks!
I was just wondering if anyone was aware of any auditory displays which were presented as a `web service' and were combinable (mashable). A scenario could be taking Alberto's work on Austrian voting providing it with a web service interface and mashing it up with something like Google Maps / Earth or similar, so that you could have a sonification linked to a visual representation (in this example but it could simply be another service).
djs performance using only sonifications!
